Planning Your Wedding Flowers

“I tell ya, weddings are wonderful… two people in love, surrounded by friends, family, and a bill big enough to buy a house.”

We can help you with that part.

With all the decisions involved in creating the wedding of your dreams, beautiful flowers are the nucleus of a successful wedding. They adorn your bridal party, your wedding site and your reception. Flowers are what make a wedding a celebration. They are there in every memorable photograph. Bouquets, centerpieces, church decorations, and even the wedding cake can carry the floral color theme throughout the festivities.

So to start: DECIDE ON YOUR COLOR THEME.

Some brides know exactly what they want, others are not aware of certain colorations that don’t exist in nature. For example, the color aqua doesn’t exist in floral botanica. The blue shades are mainly available closer to Spring. Other flowers, like peonies, lilacs, and lily of the valley have a short season as well. (Possibly one of the reasons why weddings have traditionally taken place in June).

Next, DECIDE ON A FLORAL BUDGET.

This is very important because as you add members to your bridal party, you add cost to your flower budget. An average bridesmaid bouquet can cost around $100 at my shop. Add to this boutonnières, wristlets, corsages, flowergirl baskets, headpieces and so forth. As you add guests to your list, you also add centerpieces to your reception tables (average $95 to $195 each). With 200 guests that’s approximately $2500+.
